These earrings were created to remind us of Psalm 146:5-6 which says:
"Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever."
It’s easy to place our hope in people because we can see them, talk to them, hear about current decisions they make, etc.
Sometimes even our leaders seem so powerful and in control. However, Psalm 146:3-4 says we should not put our hope or complete trust in them since ultimately their lives and plans are fleeting, and they cannot truly save.
Instead of placing our hope in and seeking help from people who are temporary, we can place our hope in and seek help in the Creator of the Sea who is eternal and IS powerful enough to save.
As we look at these earrings and see each pearl and shell that God made, we can be reminded to put our hope in and seek help from the powerful One who created them, the sea, and the earth.

Mother-of-Pearl Shell Bead - the coating on the inside of a mollusk that creates pearls (hence the term “mother-of-pearl”)
